Black Excellence Day - May 15

Wednesday, May 15 is Black Excellence Day in Nova Scotia. The day brings attention to the brilliance, achievements, and talents of students of African descent. Celebrating Black Excellence in schools provides an opportunity for every student, teacher, and administrator to acknowledge and recognize the past and present achievements, stories, art, and innovations of people of African descent. All students and staff are invited to wear black T-Shirts to celebrate and stand in unity in support of Black Excellence Day.

Recognizing Black Excellence fosters a culture of equity and inclusion within schools. It sends a message that all students, regardless of their background, have the potential to excel and make valuable contributions to society. By celebrating diversity and promoting inclusivity, schools create a more welcoming and supportive environment for all students.

Please take the time to learn and celebrate the contributions of Black Excellence in our schools.
